You should meet...

... my niece, Lacie Rae. She's only four weeks old and she sleeps most her life away right now, but she is such a blessing! I'm counting the moments till I can hold her.

Thanks, Elyssa, for the beautiful pictures :)

You should meet...

... my brother. (You can probably tell by this lovely picture.) He's a composer, in the media/movie industry, a cellist, and well... he'll probably be very rich someday. But... he'll always be my little brother, even though he is taller than me.

(P.S. Girls of America, don't get any ideas... haha!)

Forgotten Songs

"Songs that cannot be sung," said Owl, "because the words have been forgotten." Owl began to cry. A large tear rolled down into the kettle. "Spoons that have fallen behind the stove and are never seen again," ~~ Owl At Home

How I used to laugh at this funny story of a little owl who was making tearwater tea. This book was one of my favorites as a child. I loved how Owl sat thinking and crying over the most crazy things! It reminds me, though, of us sometimes... we do a lot of lamenting over things we cannot change and things we should just get up and do. There is a time for happiness as there is a season for all things.

"For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:
a time to be born, and a time to die;a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal;a time to break down, and a time to build up; 4a time to weep, and a time to laugh;a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to seek, and a time to lose;a time to keep, and a time to cast away; a time to tear, and a time to sew;a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate;a time for war, and a time for peace." Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

So be joyful in the Lord! He makes all things new!!

The Young Woman's Song

Turning the pages of her life,
Wondering what next she might write,
Grasping to those childhood dreams so tight.

Advice was everywhere she turned,
Too many opinions made her feel burned,
Recalling all the lessons she learned.

Pleasures of the world called out to her name,
Claiming all treasure is one-in-the-same,
Failure was sure in this unbeatable game.

Opportunities came fast and then they'd go,
Which to hold onto -- she didn't know,
Vision was clouded by vanity's show.

And she'd say.

Savior Jesus, Abba Father,
I have searched high and low,
In You I have to look no further.
My purpose is perfectly found,
Though lost identity is all around.
Will this time be short or long,

This is that young woman's song...

Understanding what is meek,
Did not mean she was weak,
Life of pleasure she did not seek.

Expectations she couldn't fill,
Swallowing hard sin's bitter pill,
Glory held a perfect will.

Sorrows of the world called out to her name,
Carry our burdens or you'll be to blame,
Failure was sure in this unbeatable game.

Friends and relatives go their own way,
Thinking she'll be the one to pay,
Determined she was -- come what may.

And she'd say.

Savior Jesus, Abba Father,
I have searched high and low,
In You I have to look no further.
My purpose is perfectly found,
Though lost identity is all around.
Seemingly small -- I'll do my part,

This is that young woman's heart...

The joy of the Lord is what made her free,
Pretending not what she wouldn't be,
Resting in the Savior was the key.

Savior Jesus, Abba Father,
I have searched high and low,
In You I have to look no further.
May generations find me faithful and true,
Reflecting all glory to You.
Strength and dignity I will wear,

This is that young woman's prayer...

Growing up...

Reality hits when you receive a court summons for jury duty.

Oh my, I believe I just want to go back to the days of playing beauty salon and cowboys with my sister and brother.

Smoke and Fire

It's fall -- what a lovely one it is. My advice to you is that you should go outside, make a fire, and grab a bag of marshmallows! It's a guarantee to make you smell, give you a tasty treat, and make many memories. :)

Think About This

Two thoughts from my online writing lessons. Think about it...

“Christians must begin to find their way back to poetry, and to let poetry
play its proper role in the formation of their souls and the elaboration of
their worldviews… We can hope that Christians will begin to discover the
power and promise of poetry; that Christian poets will write more as they
find their audience growing, and that some of them will begin to take aim
at the false worldviews of a society blind to the truth of God. If Christians
can once again take poetry seriously, and if Christian poets can get a vision
of how their work can help in the conflict of worldviews, these might be
just the kind of conditions that can energize a Christian poetry of
subversion in the next generation or two.…” -- T. M. Moore, from an
article published on the blog, BreakPoint http://www.breakpoint.org/
features-columns/breakpoint-columns/entry/2/1674

“Women, we must stop making apologies for God’s creation
order. We should give no quarter to ideas that will slay the
happiness of our daughters and emasculate our sons. Let us
speak the truth in love: It is wonderful to be a woman. It is
glorious to be feminine. It is a privilege to do what no man can
do: bring new life into this world. It is a joy and an honor to
follow a godly man as his helpmeet, as together we serve the
Lord.”

....................................................................

Dear MacBook Pro,

I hope you won't think me impetuous, but I'm in love with you. We have never met, but I hope we will soon. I'm sure we will be a great team and I promise to take very good care of you...

A "Little" About Me

Few shall read this collection of thoughts and even fewer shall care. Yet, I shall write so maybe one person will smile =)

I am blissfully blessed to be a daughter at home. I cherish the past, live to the fullest in the present, and hope, dream, and prepare for my future. I adore being a daughter, sister, aunt, friend, teacher, artist, and writer. Yet above all, my greatest role is a child of the Most High King over all of creation. He is the author of my past, present, and future. Apart from Him, I am nothing. My goal is to glorify Him in all that I do, say, and think.

My personal lifestyle is what you might call... artistic. I love my sweet Alabama and my city. I enjoy traveling -- most of all to see my sister and her family in Maryland. I have a very busy schedule and am continually having to decipher between what is good and what is best. In the many posts to come, you'll see my passions, ideas, and beliefs. So stay tuned, follow me, and make comments! Talk with you soon!
