Heart Reflections

love I made it mine
I made it small I made it blind
I followed hard only to find
it wasn't love
it wasn't love

love of songs and pen
oh love of movie endings
takes out the break
leaves out the bend
misses love

love not of you
love not of me
come hold us up
come set us free
not as we know it
but as it can be

The celebration of love at this time of the year can make a girl long for companionship in ways that should not yet be aroused. Many girls oftentimes get caught up in the excitement of Valentine's Day, weddings, or any special occasion where love is highlighted. The danger does not lie in a young woman feeling love; the danger lies in what she will choose to do with that love.

I am an unmarried, young woman. I chose at a very young age to save my heart for my future husband. I'm entering a stage of life when many of my friends are being blessed with marriage. I know the Lord, in the fullness of time, will bring me into matrimony with a godly young man. I long for that day and I feel the great pull to be united, with someday the blessings of children, but I know not when that day should come. So I wait... but what should I do with all the emotions and desires of love until that time comes?

The Lord has given us these longings for a good reason. After He created Adam, He said that it was not good for man to be alone, so God created Eve. It is a beautiful thing to see a young woman long for love, but oftentimes she will confuse that love with many other cheap feelings. Lust, impatience, and romance can be disguised in the name of love, but will lead to empty, broken hearts. Yet, when we wait on God's fullness of time and the men He would desire us to marry, we can be continually filled with true, unwavering love and pure passion.

Is it hard to wait? Some days it can be, like on Valentine's Day. It's like taking a child and sitting her in front of a cupcake and asking her not to touch it until you say. But just like the child and the cupcake, how much harder will it be if you leave the child alone with the tasty treat? As a plea from a young woman, don't leave your friend or daughter alone with all of her desires for love. Nurturing that love is so precious, growing it in righteousness will bring joy.

Let's try to nurture, grow, and cherish love. This can be a dangerous game, so we must first submit it all to the Lord and place our dreams in His hands, knowing that in Him we will never be lonely or without love.

Challenge of the Heart #1

Pray for your future mate.
Today, say a prayer for your future husband. Here are a few things I continually pray for mine, if the Lord so blesses:

~Protection
~Health
~Uncommon knowledge, wisdom, and favor
~Clean hands and a pure heart
~That he will love Christ far more than anyone or anything
~Continued spiritual growth
~That he will save his heart for me
~That his feet and eyes will not go astray when faced with temptation
~That the Lord will bring victory, success, and clear direction in his occupation
~For his family and church -- that he may be a blessing to them and they to him
~That he will grow bold before man and humble before Christ
~That he will desire to raise the next generation for the building of Christ's kingdom

Will you join me? Ask your parents to pray with you and friends to pray for each other. Whatever you do, don't be alone. Don't bury love or treat it lightly. Give it to Christ; save it for your future mate.

A Following of 50

Well, surprise, surprise. After a year of blogging on La vie est Belle, there is a following of 50, plus more stats of regular visitors who choose not to "officially" follow. It's interesting how a blog changes you. It makes you an observer, yet an actor in the play of life. With a lifestyle blog, you must live life presently and fully while documenting history.

Is a blog a selfish thing? It very easily plays to our vanity, tricking us to believe that we are "special" in a world of finite people. But I believe as in most things, blogs can be used as a tool to share the hope within us, that is, if you have the majesty of Christ as the King of your life. Blogs also make you think -- I believe it can be used as a training ground for when we flesh out the issues of our culture for the real world (not just the cyber one).

We live in a world with people yelling opinions and ideas in order to be heard. Blogs can either be used as another clanging cymbal of cluttered information or used as a gentle and thoughtful way to express your sentiments. I think Chris Rice's song sums it up:

So called reality

Right there on my TV

If that's how life's suppose to be, well

Somebody's lying

The camera's on and we can tell

To keep your fame you have to yell

Cause tensions build

And products sell and

We're all buying

I hope we're smarter than this

Everybody take a breath

Why are all your faces red?

We're missing all the words you said

You don't have to yell

Draw your lines

And choose your sides
Cause many thing are worth the fight
But louder doesn't make you right
You don't have to yell,
Oh, You don't have to

ye-ye-ye-yell

ye-ye-yeeell

ye-ye-yeeell

You don't have to yell

I turned in to hear the news

I don't want your point of view

If that's the best you can do

Then something's missin'

And experts on whatever side

You plug your eyes,
You scream your lines
You claim to have an open-mind
But nobody's listening

But don't you think,

We're smarter than this?

Everybody take a breath

Why are all your faces red?
We're missing all the words you said
You don't have to yell
If everyone would take a step
Back away and count and count to ten
Clear your mind and start again
then we won't have to yell
You don't have to yell

If this blog becomes a clanging noise, then I'm but a fool on a soapbox. I pray that 50 more will follow, but be it 5, 50, or 5,000, this blog is to glorify my Lord, reflect on His goodness and blessings, and gently share the hope of His Kingdom everlasting.

Proverbs 15:4
"A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit."

1 Peter 3:15
"...in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect"

That's No, Leave it to Beaver!

All I can say is this is one of the strangest things I've seen in a long time. My family have some deep thoughts about its ever-so-cool "enlightenment of evolution" approach, but you decide.

Tell me what you think! Does this go deeper than bike safety, or is it now evident to you as to why the generation that is currently leading America is so crazy?

Humble Happy Home

One of my favorite things is when newly married wives put up photos of their newly decorated homes. Usually the decorating is VERY humble and the walls are white, with mismatched furniture. Though photos on websites, such as The Nest, show picture perfect rooms, the badly decorated homes of the real new brides are far more priceless! They take pride in their small homes and love it because they love who they now share that home with!

So sweet :)

~ Eat Cotton Candy at a county fair.
~ Catch a ball at a baseball game.
~ Picnic with friends at sunset.

A girl can dream... hehe!

Snip and Cut

So this is the new hair! I cut it off to give to Pantene! They donate their wigs to women with cancer. I got a total of 10 inches off, but it only takes 8. Think about doing it yourself! I love the new look!

What do you think?

Forever

When I fall in love
It will be forever
Or I'll never fall
In love

In a restless world
Love is ended before it's begun
And too many moonlight kisses
Seem to cool in the warmth of the sun

When I give my heart
It will be completely
Or I'll never give
My heart

And the moment I can feel that
You feel that way too
Is when I fall in love with you

Papa, Daddy, Father

Call him what you please, but mine is the best!

In my eyes, my daddy is the second best man who ever walked the earth. (Jesus comes first, of course! And C.S. Lewis is third for now--until a future husband fits in somewhere!) I’ve been my daddy’s “pumpkin” since Day One. Though you should never get into an argument with him, he is particularly fun to engage in a battle of the wits. I’m very much like my daddy. We are both laid back with a touch of perfectionism in our vocations. We both laugh at our own jokes (even if no one else does!), and our mutual dream is to refurbish an old car.

Give three cheers to your Dad!

Now your daddy might not have won a prize for the best dad of the year. I understand that fathers aren’t perfect, but let’s not forget we are not perfect, either. God has put your daddy in your life for a special reason. Learning from him is not only beneficial, but is commanded in scripture. The Lord reveals wisdom through your father, however insufficient you think he may be at times. As a polished cornerstone (Psalm 144:12), you can receive the blessings of an honoring spirit. Just as we are born with the capability to sin, so are our dads. Search the scriptures to know how you should love him!

Maybe you have grown up in a strong Christian home with a loving dad, or maybe your dad has not been a major influence in your life. We must put trust in our Heavenly Father that all things are working for our good.

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”
Romans 8:28

Think about this: maybe your choice to honor, love, and respect your daddy can be an encouragement to him—-giving him the boost to become more honorable. The Lord might be calling you to be the “big girl”!

Big Girl steps can be scary! Try this one. This week find something that makes your dad smile! It might be his favorite dessert or even a big hug from you! Make him smile and choose to honor him!

Happy Daddies Day!!!

It's On!

Hey you crazy, white, fuzzy bugs! You are not welcome to feast on my blackberry bushes! You are making my life not so happy right now! I've worked hard for those blackberries. Consider your life coming to an end, because you are about to tango with spicy Tabasco spray!!!

Down with the bad bugs!!!!

Tea for Two and a Few

My wonderful cousin is getting married! This was her tea! As you can see, I was the happy punch girl! ;) Nathan filmed all the lovely ladies and it was a very merry event. My grandmother told me three times that she is going to do the same kind of event for me, once a fellow comes and finds me :)

Perfectly Situated

Over the weekend we went to my cousin's bridal tea. While we were in deep South Alabama, we found this perfectly situated town. I want to live there!

I want this house. And yes, it was for sale... just my luck when I can't buy it. :/ Can't you just see me sipping sweet tea on the front porch and children playing in the yard...

Lazzzzzy Summer Days

Do you remember when you were a child during summer time? How the days seemed oh, so long. The best thing was to run through a sprinklers and eat and ice cream cone next to you dog.

So summers as a young adult might be a little different... but it has it's perks. The best thing to me is taking a nap durning a hot afternoon and waking to the sound of air conditioner and Mom busy in the kitchen.

I love summer projects weather it's repainting, covering an old settee, or cleaning out something, it always seems more pleasant when you have a big slice of watermelon to reward yourself with after your done.

Do you have any special summer projects this year? Or maybe you like to entertain. These are perfect little ideas for your summer bash!

Where is she?

... Hello Happy Bloggers!

Sorry I have not been blogging! Life has been too crazy to keep up with. I'm thankful for these few lazy summer days. I have only a few classes to teach!

Here is what I've been up to.

A big thank you to those who have kept Alabama in your prayers! We were so blessed! We were within less than half a mile from the EF5. God is good! Please keep our dear friends, the Lees, in your prayers. Mr. Lee passed away in the storm while praying over his family as the house came down around them. To find how you can help, visit here.

Great and powerful heavenly Father. Bring your people peace in Japan, comfort those who are weary, and save those who are lost. You have created all things and we know somehow this shall bring glory to your purpose. Let our prayers be heard and help us be an answer to prayer!
