The Young Woman's Song

Turning the pages of her life,
Wondering what next she might write,
Grasping to those childhood dreams so tight.

Advice was everywhere she turned,
Too many opinions made her feel burned,
Recalling all the lessons she learned.

Pleasures of the world called out to her name,
Claiming all treasure is one-in-the-same,
Failure was sure in this unbeatable game.

Opportunities came fast and then they'd go,
Which to hold onto -- she didn't know,
Vision was clouded by vanity's show.

And she'd say.

Savior Jesus, Abba Father,
I have searched high and low,
In You I have to look no further.
My purpose is perfectly found,
Though lost identity is all around.
Will this time be short or long,

This is that young woman's song...

Understanding what is meek,
Did not mean she was weak,
Life of pleasure she did not seek.

Expectations she couldn't fill,
Swallowing hard sin's bitter pill,
Glory held a perfect will.

Sorrows of the world called out to her name,
Carry our burdens or you'll be to blame,
Failure was sure in this unbeatable game.

Friends and relatives go their own way,
Thinking she'll be the one to pay,
Determined she was -- come what may.

And she'd say.

Savior Jesus, Abba Father,
I have searched high and low,
In You I have to look no further.
My purpose is perfectly found,
Though lost identity is all around.
Seemingly small -- I'll do my part,

This is that young woman's heart...

The joy of the Lord is what made her free,
Pretending not what she wouldn't be,
Resting in the Savior was the key.

Savior Jesus, Abba Father,
I have searched high and low,
In You I have to look no further.
May generations find me faithful and true,
Reflecting all glory to You.
Strength and dignity I will wear,

This is that young woman's prayer...
