October Baby's VIP premier was a smash! These are some of the humble documentations from the evening. Maybe the red carpet did get to our head a little, but what a wonderful memory to make with wonderful family and friends!
Well, surprise, surprise. After a year of blogging on La vie est Belle, there is a following of 50, plus more stats of regular visitors who choose not to "officially" follow. It's interesting how a blog changes you. It makes you an observer, yet an actor in the play of life. With a lifestyle blog, you must live life presently and fully while documenting history.
Is a blog a selfish thing? It very easily plays to our vanity, tricking us to believe that we are "special" in a world of finite people. But I believe as in most things, blogs can be used as a tool to share the hope within us, that is, if you have the majesty of Christ as the King of your life. Blogs also make you think -- I believe it can be used as a training ground for when we flesh out the issues of our culture for the real world (not just the cyber one).
We live in a world with people yelling opinions and ideas in order to be heard. Blogs can either be used as another clanging cymbal of cluttered information or used as a gentle and thoughtful way to express your sentiments. I think Chris Rice's song sums it up:
So called reality
Right there on my TV
If that's how life's suppose to be, well
Somebody's lying
The camera's on and we can tell
To keep your fame you have to yell
Cause tensions build
And products sell and
We're all buying
I hope we're smarter than this
Everybody take a breath
Why are all your faces red?
We're missing all the words you said
You don't have to yell
Draw your lines
And choose your sides
Cause many thing are worth the fight
But louder doesn't make you right
You don't have to yell,
Oh, You don't have to
ye-ye-ye-yell
ye-ye-yeeell
ye-ye-yeeell
You don't have to yell
I turned in to hear the news
I don't want your point of view
If that's the best you can do
Then something's missin'
And experts on whatever side
You plug your eyes,
You scream your lines
You claim to have an open-mind
But nobody's listening
But don't you think,
We're smarter than this?
Everybody take a breath
Why are all your faces red?
We're missing all the words you said
You don't have to yell
If everyone would take a step
Back away and count and count to ten
Clear your mind and start again
then we won't have to yell
You don't have to yell
If this blog becomes a clanging noise, then I'm but a fool on a soapbox. I pray that 50 more will follow, but be it 5, 50, or 5,000, this blog is to glorify my Lord, reflect on His goodness and blessings, and gently share the hope of His Kingdom everlasting.
Proverbs 15:4 "A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit."
1 Peter 3:15 "...in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect"
These are a few old photos of Lacie and me. I miss her little baby smiles and laughs! My niece is now a year old! Our little October baby -- wow, how time moves!
I deny it and then try to ignore it. I pop a few extra vitamins and continue with my day. I feel better one moment and knew I was right, but then it hits : (
Yesterday was what I thought would be a productive start to my weekend. After scrubbing the bathroom, I sat down to fold some towels and BANG! No denying, I'm sick!
So I will be sick till my little body uses the supplements that I am pumping in it every hour.... boooooo!
For a day I had the pleasure of playing hooky with a friend. It was too beautiful of a day not to enjoy it. So I went to a favorite spot in my city and just enjoyed the glories of nature and the God that created it all!
This is the movie my brother had the blessing to help with last summer. It is releasing in Alabama and Mississippi Oct. 28th. So if you live in these states, GO SEE IT! You will love it! It will push Christian films to the next level, challenging our culture to take a hard look at how beautiful life really is! Abortion changes not only the lives of the child and mother, but has a far-reaching effect on many lives.
P.S. My mother and I are extras in this trailer. Can you find us? ;)
I'd be ok if you wanted to lock me in a library! Just give me some veggie chips and a cup of black coffee. I think we all should step back in time and go smell the old books. Yes, we may have nooks, iPads, and the web, but turning the crispy, old pages of a hardcover book can be refreshing to our over-cluttered tech world!
A new Christian ministry is seeking young ladies between the ages of 13 to 30 to be volunteer models for upcoming photo shoots in the Birmingham area! We’ll be photographing for our spring website unveiling. Please contact me if you are interested. These shoots should provide a really wholesome and fun opportunity to visually depict how to balance style and true godly beauty! Don’t miss out, ladies -- tell your friends!
